Looks like a Rose Haired Tarantula, you can find them in some smaller petshops. I love my tarantula. But I love the composition of this piece, it's stunning.

hello Justin! I'm impressed by your photo. Amazing! I've been looking for such shot for a long time. I suffer from arachnophobia... but in the other hand sth beacons me to them. I am web designer (sth common with spiders - web) and my latest project need sth like this night crawler. Do you mind if I use this beautiful nightmare in my work? After all I'll show you my finished work. If you don't give me permission I will accept your decision and won't put this spider into my work.
thanks in advance!
Pawel - Poland

I know spiders are supposed to be scary, but I think it's pretty. You make it even nicer looking by lightening the furry hairs. It's an interesting photo because the light makes the spider glow but all around is dark, gloomy and blue. It creates the more eerie quality that can freak out people who don't like spiders.

The total look appears to be a moonlit nightscene that is just beautliful.

Its got to be a pet... what kind is she? she? looks like a mature female... Grammostola Rosea? Or atleast a Grammostola sp.? Im sure you put it there... a tarantula wouldn't walk through that water.. I guess there is the possibility of there being a rocky walk-able area to the left, and you just happened to come across it chillin on the rock, which is highly un-likley, especially if it IS Rosea...

But n e ways… since you have the nice camera, the nice scenery, possibly the spider... and you’ve already taken this picture with no problem... have you ever considered taking this picture with long exposure? You already know how to do long exposure… Ive seen it… With the water, the spider and long exposure, that would look really cool I’ve wanted to do this for a while actually (Argh giving away my ideas, but I have the problem of finding the stream and bringing the tarantula for the picture… me being in the desert n’ all). I'm sure she would sit still long enough for you to do long exposure, when they don’t move they really don’t move.

:D Great Photo, I love the proportional balance.

Very cool shot. I like the blue background in contrast with the grey rock and grey/white touches on the spider.

Is that a tarantula? I'm a bit surprised that it's sitting on a stone surrounded by water.
What a luck to find it like this.
How close did you have to go to take the photo?
