I love how harsh the hands looked wrapped around that poor little chicken.... but then on closer inspection, you can tell that they are handling him pretty gently. You can almost hear the little kid crying because the chick got hurt, or got left out, and the loving grandfather telling her that it will be okay, and taking the chick into his hands to care for it.

wow you where right in most things....the child was crying because he was "afraid" of the chick, but was holding it gently, and yes the grandfather was helping him out. good job on the story!
So sweet!
And very good decision to not do it in color.
Amazing, how easy it is to think up different stories about how the little chicken "landed" in the child's hands.
Very emotional photo. I like it a lot!

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
